When you’re spending 8-12 hours a day operating heavy machinery, comfort isn’t a luxury; it’s an essential for productivity, safety, and your bottom line. Whether you’re harvesting crops under the blazing summer sun, maintaining commercial landscapes in sweltering heat, or operating construction equipment in freezing winter conditions, your comfort directly impacts your performance and operational costs.
Thermavance’s innovative cooling and heating seat technology changes how we think about operator comfort in off-highway equipment.
“Unlike traditional HVAC systems that heat or cool the air around you, Thermavance works through direct thermal conduction – transferring heat directly to and from your body through the seat,” said Bill Myers, CEO of Promethient, the company behind Thermavance. “This innovative approach allows the system to pump heat away from you when cooling is needed, or pump heat to you when warming is required, resulting in nearly immediate, targeted comfort, rather than fighting against ambient air temperatures.”
The Science: Direct Thermal Conduction
Traditional HVAC systems rely on air to heat or cool operators, but Thermavance flips the script through a patented direct thermal conduction system. Here’s how it works:
- Cooling: Heat is actively pumped from your body through direct contact with the seat surface by solid state heat pumping provided by a thermoelectric device and coupling it with thermally conductive, flexible, and lightweight graphene. .
- Heating: Using solid state electronic heating, coupled with graphene, heat is efficiently pumped to you through the seat, providing targeted warmth without drying out the air.
This isn’t air conditioning or heated air. It’s revolutionary personal heating and cooling that moves energy directly between your body and the seat. The result? Faster, more efficient comfort. Moreover, Thermavance technology does not require perforations in the seat surface that can get clogged, allow for liquids to penetrate the seat or compromise durability of the seat cover.
Thermavance has proven the technology’s capability in all-weather settings in the motorcycle, recreational vehicle, marine, golf cart and stadium markets.
The Impact: Increased Comfort, Increased Productivity
For agriculture, commercial lawn care, and construction operators, comfort impacts performance. Thermavance brings a targeted solution by helping operators stay comfortable in:
- Heat, humidity, cold, and wind
- Open-halo and in-cab conditions
- Long shifts, repetitive passes, and frequent in/out cycles
When comfort is delivered where the work happens — the seat — operators can focus on what matters: doing the job safely, accurately, and efficiently, no matter the season.
Thermavance works directly with OEMs or seat suppliers to ensure a seamless integration into a wide range of seats and demonstrated two different seats at ConExpo/ConAgg 2026.
